Dogwood Dance Project was founded by four James Madison University dance graduates in 2011 and has since grown to a company of 20+ Richmond-based dancers focused on integrating their education and shared experiences into quality, real-world art. With company members involved in dance performance, teaching, and arts administration across the Richmond metro-area, Dogwood Dance Project works throughout the region in efforts to maximize opportunities to rehearse, teach and perform for as many different audiences as possible.

Additionally, a fundamental component of Dogwood Dance Project is the inclusion of dance education initiatives in efforts that range from the Dogwood Dance Youth Ensemble, a pre-professional company of student dancers from across the Richmond area offered free of cost, to workshops, free company classes, and educational residencies and programs appropriate for schools or other outreach groups.

During the 2022-2023 season we set big goals for ourselves to grow as a company and increase the impact of our own experience and those around us. We have transitioned our company into a 501c3 Non-Profit as well as an Artist's collective - working together towards a common goal. We operate with an Executive Committee looking over four different committees - Operations, Artistic, Fundraising, and Marketing, which helps us find the most success. http://dogwooddanceproject.weebly.com/
