The Rose Garden Party is an evening social event that raises money for ParkARTS, a series of free performing and participatory events and workshops throughout the Boston park system.

The Rose Garden Party is the sole fundraiser held by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to raise money for its year-round free programming in Boston’s parks. The Fund for Parks and Recreation in Boston is an IRS-recognized non-profit trust. Our federal tax identification number is 04-2784811.

We are pleased to resume this annual fundraising event that was suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. We look forward to once again assemble, socialize, celebrate and support our year-round free programs in Boston’s Park system. We appreciate your support.

Features of the Rose Garden Party:

  • Reception with Mayor Michelle Wu, Honorary Event Committee Chair, Reverend Mariama White-Hammond, Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space, and Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods plus Boston’s business, arts, community, and philanthropic leaders
  • Passed hors d’oeuvres, lavish buffet, music, silent auction
  • Outdoor and tented garden-party setting in the historic Kelleher Rose Garden in the Back Bay Fens with 3,000 rose bushes in peak bloom

About ParkARTS

Programming in Boston’s parks is funded exclusively via sponsorships, grants, and proceeds raised at the Rose Garden Party. Programs include free concerts, arts and crafts, puppet shows, movies, painting and photography workshops, children’s festivals, outdoor winter activities, and many special events.

These safe, accessible, quality, and free events and programs serve many groups including children whose families cannot afford summer camps and sports leagues. Several programs and events are held during evening hours so families can enjoy them together.

Children build confidence and exhibit self-expression via the arts and crafts series, watercolor workshops, and Pics in the Parks, an introduction to photography series.

Many people living in the city do not have a yard or the means to vacation. Our parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, urban wilds, city squares, and street trees provide respite from the city hardscape. Our special events and programs bring free, fun, and safe activities to these spaces and help build community. Tens of thousands of children and families enjoy these events and activities each year.
