About The Event

We are excited to share the news about the upcoming, reimagined Gala for Kids On The Go. The biennial Gala held since 2008 supports 38 free therapy programs for children with special needs here in the Metro Detroit area and beginning this summer, in Traverse City. Impacted by the uncertainty presented by COVID-19 the 2020 Gala has been transformed into the Bandstand Battle! With a new band showcase format and virtual delivery, we are looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to “open” our doors and share all the good things happening at our organization during this week-long event!

One week prior to the live broadcast on November 7th, the Bandstand Battle will begin with the performance release of 6 selected bands.Viewers and fans will be encouraged to vote for their favorite band throughout the week. During the live broadcast on November 7th, the top three bands will be announced and a second performance will be featured. The winning band will be determined by the live audience! Additionally, "guests" will be able to bid on silent and live auctions through online bidding during the broadcast.

We have assembled an incredible team for the Bandstand Battle. Together with our Kids On The Go Development and Event Teams, we have partnered with Detroit’s own, Broken Blanket Media to ensure a professionally produced program, Brandon Roux of WDIV joins us again as emcee, and Wade Leist as Benefit Auctioneer. Be sure to mark the date and join us for the Battle!

All proceeds of the event will benefit Kids On The Go. Since 1999, Kids On The Go has been providing therapy to children (3-17 yrs) with special needs at no cost to their families.
