Java Jam 2024
Join us July 18th, 2024 for the 3rd Annual Java Jam featuring music by Dank Hill and Domestic Problems! The Java Jam is a charity concert to benefit BErista Inc. and Kenzie's Be Cafe. This year we will have a DJ, Kim Wiesner kicking us off right at 5:00pm, followed by 2 bands, Dank Hill and Domestic Problems(!!!!), each will take the stage at the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium downtown Grand Haven. Doors, bar and food trucks will also be open at 5pm.
About BErista Inc and Kenzie's Be Cafe
BErista Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that acts as an advocate for and provides meaningful employment and job skills to people with disabilities. Kenzie’s Be Cafe celebrated its first year on Halloween. In our first year we served more than 30 people with disabilities through meaningful employment and workforce development opportunities, with 14 BEristas and 4 volunteers currently working at the café. Your investment in BErista and its' programs allows us to unlock human potential. With personal and business partnerships we can highlight the employee's contributions and impact in our community.
When Kenzie’s opened, we expected to provide task-based workforce training; our program has become so much more than this. Our BEristas are building their confidence and finding opportunities in our community. In less than a year, we had two of our employees successfully find employment in our community. Another two employees made the decision to pursue college! One of these BEristas almost missed the opportunity to interview with us because they were so nervous and shy. In less than a year, that same employee gained the confidence and skills they needed to pursue and earn a job outside Kenzie’s. One of our BEristas enrolled at GVSU to help other students like her pursue their dreams. It's incredible to see how everyone’s confidence has grown, and the opportunities they have been able to pursue because of your support.
Benefits of the Java Jam
In our first year we provided over 10,000 hours of training and served thousands of cups of coffee. But we're not stopping there - we want to continue making a difference. The funds raised at Java Jam will directly impact the programs provided by BErista Inc. allowing us to provide more one on one training, expand programming, and hire more people.
