Ho Ho Hoover

Hoover Helps is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is actively engaged with school leaders, churches, businesses and other organizations to help align community resources. Resources are used to address current unmet needs such as food insecurity.

How does Hoover Helps help?

• Along with our 13 faith-based partners, we feed over 500 food insecure children each week through our Backpack program.  They rely on school meals for food each week, and many do not have enough food during the weekend.  These children receive food every week during the school year.
• During the height of the pandemic, we worked to meet the needs of our children anyway we could.  We delivered bags of food at the schools alongside Hoover CNP.  City employees from the Hoover Public Library and Hoover Parks and Recreation also helped us deliver bags of food to 12 Hoover apartment complexes.  In addition to delivering an average of 600 bags each week, they also delivered over 1,000 children’s books.  Large boxes of food were also delivered to families in need at both high schools.  Pallets of food were delivered to the Finley Center from the Community Foodbank of Central Alabama.  City employees organized and packed boxes of food designed for a family of 4.  Over 600 large boxes of food were delivered to families.
• During Kindness Week in 2022 we partnered with Hoover City Schools to have books donated for children.  We were able to donate 15,000 books to children that do not have many books at home, if at all.
• We work with Hoover City School counselors to meet immediate and urgent needs of students throughout the City of Hoover.
