Grand Rotary Community Benefit

Introduction

Rotary International’s motto is “Service above Self”, which encourages us to support charitable projects both locally and internationally. These efforts to assist the local and international communities depend on our ability to raise funds and this year our major fundraisers have been cancelled due to the global pandemic.

The Rotary Clubs of Burnaby and New Westminster – Royal City as well as Monarch Place are having their first ever online Auction! The proceeds from this fundraiser will support the following much needed beneficiaries:

Monarch Place – a Transition House that offers shelter and support to women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
New Westminster Victims Assistance Unit – Provides crisis intervention, follow up support, resource referral and information on the criminal justice system to those impacted by crime and trauma in the community. VAU operates on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year.
New Westminster Youth Programs – Royal City Rotary funds many programs to help youth with their personal development, education, vocational choices and volunteer options.
Sushrusa School for Deaf Children, Bali Indonesia – Funds raised are directed by the Rotary Club of Burnaby toward specific school needs i.e. school supplies, sanitary facilities and classroom furnishing.
Clean Water Project – Adopt a Village in Laos – The Rotary Club of Burnaby’s international project provides clean water to rural villages and schools in Northern Laos. Each water filter system will last for over 10 years; the cost is $125 per filter.

We are excited about what is certain to be an amazing fundraiser and we look forward to your participation!  Thank you!
