Welcome to Our Auction!

An online fundraising event benefiting the FBAC

About Us

2021 was SUCH an exciting year for FBAC!

In July we restarted limited in-person classes, celebrating our reopening with a fabulous lithography demonstration by Scip Barnhart, intaglio printing demonstration by Lee Newman, and instead of a keepsake our visitors printed the outer pages of The Ephemeral, our letterpress printed newspaper. Meanwhile our online Zoom classes continue, from Persian miniature painting technique taught by an instructor in the Netherlands to a pop-up class taught by a world renown paper engineer, FBAC has taught over 45 Zoom and In-person classes in 2021. We hosted a book club run by the Curious Iguana for tweens and a delightful bachelorette book making party at which one of the bridesmaids created the guestbook for the wedding!

But our most exciting and big news is that co-founder Sara Friedman and her husband Mike have purchased a building to be a permanent home for FBAC. Located at 127 South Carroll Street, the warehouse building constructed in the early 20th Century is much larger than our current building. FBAC will be the southern anchor of the Carroll Street Creative District in Frederick. Countless hours were spent creating designs so that our photographers, printmakers, letterpress printers, and bookbinders' needs will be met in the space. Almost a dozen alternate designs for the space have culminated in what we hope will be comfortable, beautiful, but most importantly, enjoyable spaces to print in and run classes in and much more. Our main function and gallery space should be large enough to hold readings, book screenings, and to host collaborative events with other organizations in Frederick.

FBAC is vibrant because of all of the community support we have had, while we are expanding, we hope we can continue to count on your support to help prevent shortfalls as we move to our new building and begin developing and offering more unique services.
