The RED SHOES GALA by FASD United is a celebration of the FASD community. In 1973, the first diagnosis of an FASD was made in the United States, now in 2023 we gather to celebrate 50 years of FASD Research, Policy, Practice and Hope.
Held on September 19, 2023, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm the RED SHOES GALA at the National Press Club, 529 14th Street, NW, in Washington DC, we will honor Congressional and other leaders who have championed FASD-informed legislation, care, research, education and achievement.
These champions lead the way in advancing the mission of FASD United to empower people living with FASD and prenatal substance exposure to educate systems of care and the public, enact policies, and unite communities everywhere.
In 2013 a FASD self-advocate decided to wear red shoes to stand out, be noticed, and start conversations around FASD. Red shoes have been adopted as an international symbol of FASD advocacy and we invite you to join us in a celebration of the FASD community and to support the mission of FASD United.
FASD United is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that for over 30 years has been the National Voice on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. It's mission is to empower people living with FASD and prenatal substance exposure to educate systems of care and the public, enact policies, and unite communities everywhere. Involved in the areas of research, support, prevention, policy and justice, FASD United is a connecting thread for the silos of care that interact with the FASD community.
Sponsors of the RED SHOES GALA are thought leaders who want to make a difference.
