Welcome to the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute’s annual Family Day event! Family Day 2024 will be held on Saturday, July 20 on the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute's campus at 427 W. Northmoor Road in Peoria from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Family Day is exclusive to BCDI patients and their families, and is 100% free to attend! Family Day guests will be treated to education from the BCDI staff, carnival games and activities for all ages, and lunch will be provided! Care will be provided for children. Here are the details for Family Day 2024:

WHAT- BCDI Family Day 2024!

WHO- For BCDI patients and their close family members.

WHERE- BCDI's campus- 427 W. Northmoor Road, Peoria, IL 61614.

WHEN-  Event registration begins at 10:45 a.m. Family Day programming with education, games and lunch provided begins at 11 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. 

WHY- To provide crucial education to bleeding and clotting disorder patients and their families, and to strengthen the relationships within our community. 

SCHEDULE

10:45 am: We ask that all Family Day guests arrive for registration by 10:45 am. The registration table will be at the front of the BCDI building entrance.

11:00 am– 11:30 am: Welcome message and BCDI update speech by BCDI Chief Executive Officer/Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Tarantino. This presentation will take place in front of the BCDI building, near the tent in the parking lot.

11:30 am – 12:15 pm: Lunch is served in the BCDI parking lot! Located in the tent area, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches will be provided by Brian Barron. Food from Hyvee will also be available, including hot dogs, chicken, potato chips and drinks.

12:30 pm: BCDI programming begins. Adults will head inside the BCDI building to the second floor Conference Room. Teenagers, kids and toddlers will be separated into groups for activities. 

  • Adult Education Schedule (15 minute break after each presentation)
    • 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: BCDI Associate Medical Director/Associate Research Director Dr. Jonathan Roberts presents "Therapeutics for Bleeding Disorders and the Treatment Landscape."
    • 1:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.: BCDI Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer Becky Burns presents "Navigating Patient Assistance and Copay Assistance Schemes."
    • 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: BCDI registered dietitian Beth Helmold presents "Meeting the Varying Nutritional Needs of Persons with Bleeding Disorders."
  • Teenager Group Schedule
    • 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Meet in the food tent in the parking lot. Activities include Teens Transition education, tie-die t-shirt projects, various carnival activities.
  • Kids Group Schedule
    • 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Meet in the food tent in the parking lot. Different groups will be created for four different activities throughout the afternoon.

      • Balloon Art
      • Face Painting
      • Snack Station
  • Toddlers Group Schedule
    • 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Parents and guardians drop off toddlers in the BCDI patient lobby. Childcare will be provided by BCDI staff members during this time.

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm: BCDI Carnival in the Parking Lot

  • BCDI educational tables
  • Carnival attractions and games provided by Fun on the Run
  • BCDI carnival games with prizes
  • Carnival sweet treats

4:00 pm: End of BCDI Family Day

Above: Pictures from BCDI Family 2022 which was also held at the BCDI Carnival! Dr. Tarantino will be the keynote speaker during the education portion of this year's event and there will be fun games and activities for guests of all ages.
