What is Blooming Bids?

2022 Blooming Bids for Nantucket’s Kids and a 60th birthday celebration will take place on June 23. Auction starts at 10am. Auction items can be viewed in person starting at 10am at Bartlett’s Farm Garden Center or our online auction site.

Birthday celebration from 5:30 - 7pm

For 21 years, this fundraiser has supported Fairwinds’ continuum of behavioral health services for Nantucket’s children and adolescents. The event celebrates summer on Nantucket and the way the Island embraces horticulture in creative ways, from stunning window boxes to show-stopping flower gardens, and everything in between.

The highlight of Blooming Bids is the silent auction of one-of-a-kind planters designed and donated by professional gardeners and landscapers as well as skilled hobbyists. Non-planter items are also included in the auction, such as art, fashion, jewelry, and unique experiences.

Join us June 23—no matter where you are!

About Fairwinds—Nantucket’s Counseling Center

The core of Fairwinds’ 60-year mission has been not only to provide critical mental health services to Nantucket residents but also to do so regardless of financial or insurance status. We offer numerous lines of service for children, adults, and seniors. The funds raised by the Blooming Bids for Nantucket’s Kids event will support children’s services at Fairwinds, including outpatient therapy, psychiatry and medication management, developmental testing, in-home therapy, therapeutic mentoring, and more.

Fairwinds is turning 60!

In honor of…

Fairwinds’ 60th year is a special milestone, coming as it does amidst so much positive movement on the island in the arena of mental health and recovery support.

2022 is the year we celebrate three score years of manifesting our mission to provide behavioral health services to everyone, regardless of barriers like insurance status, finances, or language spoken.

The people who have made Fairwinds what it is today are numerous, we wondered how we could select just one to recognize during this important year?

Then we realized—why choose one?

All year long we will be honoring as many people as we can* who are or have been a part of our history, our support network, our cheering squad, our leadership, and our hardworking staff.

We will highlight honorees in social media, web blogs, email blasts, and on the day of our Blooming Bids event.

*If you have suggestions for those we should honor, let us know. (Email Daniel Griffin at dgriffin@fairwindscenter.org) Records can be spotty and institutional memory only goes so far. We want to know what you know about the people who made Fairwinds what it is today, going back 60 years!
