President's Welcome

Greetings Friends, Family and Patrons of the Arts,

The Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. welcomes you to our virtual Click Bid Art Auction, “Elevating Art with Passion, Purpose and Progress!”

This 38th Art Auction is the major fundraiser for our Chapter's scholarship programs. Your generous support of this auction, over the years, has allowed us to provide artistic and academic scholarships to hundreds of deserving metro Detroit high school seniors as they prepare to pursue college degrees or advanced training certificates.

The Detroit Alumnae Chapter continues to make a positive impact at the local, state, national and international levels by being a powerful change agent as we provide outstanding programming and services. Our programs, which align with the Sorority's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, include: youth education exposures; economic development through entrepreneur workshops; active involvement in political awareness; providing education and advocacy on international issues; and programming to improve physical and mental health.

Again, welcome and thank you for your advancement of our Chapter’s scholarship fund and for your support of the artists who display and sell their works on this Virtual Artspace to benefit our scholars.

Katrenia L. Camp

President

Detroit Alumnae Chapter

Why Art Auction?

Detroit Alumnae Chapter’s Scholarship Art Auction is held to increase awareness and support of African-American artists and to raise scholarship funds for deserving students. DAC has provided academic and arts scholarships, in varying amounts, that total well over $100,000. Funds are awarded to students graduating from high schools in DAC’s service area who are pursuing degrees, full-time, at accredited colleges, universities or equivalent institutions. The funds raised from the Art Auction go to support the Chapter's scholarships.

Scholarships Awarded

We have granted hundreds of thousands of dollars in academic, literary and artistic scholarships over the years, in amounts ranging from $250 - $2,500 per student. The scholarships are:

  • Charter Member Scholarship I & II
  • Lillian Pierce Benbow I & II
