Champions of the Heart 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala

Thursday, April 24th from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Join Us for an Evening of Inspiration and Impact Featuring MSU & NBA Legend Mateen Cleaves.

All proceeds from this spectacular gala will benefit the Champions of the Heart mission, which aims to provide hands-only CPR training, CPR manikins, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the community for those experiencing unexpected cardiac events. This signature event will feature a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, exciting auctions, and more.

We are honored to welcome Hall of Fame MSU Men’s Basketball Coach Tom Izzo, who will return to host the silent auction. Coach Izzo, who delivered the keynote at our inaugural gala, has known Garland for years as a teammate and praised the teamwork that saved Garland’s life. The evening will be filled with inspiring stories, amazing auction items, and opportunities to make a meaningful difference.

Champions of the Heart was founded by former MSU Assistant Basketball Coach Mike Garland, whose life was saved after experiencing cardiac arrest in 2022. Two brave Good Samaritans stopped to administer CPR, ultimately saving his life.

Champions of the Heart Foundation is committed to creating a world where every person is empowered to respond effectively in a cardiac emergency. Our vision is to ensure that no life is lost due to lack of knowledge or access to critical lifesaving solutions. Last year, more than 300 gala guests helped raise more than $80,000 to purchase life-saving AEDs and provide CPR training in the community.
