Details
Details:

After many years designing clothing with her sister in their Barboglio Cristina &  Jan Collection, Jan Barboglio began sculpting accessories and furniture for her own home. Her childhood, spent in north central Mexico, would prove to be fertile ground for inspiration, and every object created by her would carry with it the rich history and romance of old Mexico.

Barboglio's initial designs of wax grabbers were for her silver, bronze and iron candelabra. Altar pieces and house blessing crosses were integrated into her own home furnishings. Her love of entertainment would later result in her own iron chargers,  platters and chafing dishes. Leather goods and saddle stools began to fill her home. All of these influences are evident in her Jan Barboglio Collection of today.

Jan Barboglio's original designs led the way for her current and extensive home accessories line. The Jan Barboglio Collection has since flourished into crosses and crowns, fleur de lis and scrolls, wildflowers and roses, guardian angels and symbolic bleeding hearts. From her signature Box of Miracles which houses 12 metal "milagros", prayer and family crosses, Barboglio is now well-known for bringing the spiritual aspect of old Mexico to home decor.

In recent years, Barboglio would expand the collection with accents of glass, wood, mortar and wax. Heavy goblets and vases of clear bottle glass accompany the dining pieces. Wooden tables and crosses in natural and dark tones would become notable for complimenting the burnished iron of her early work. Gesso wings, tiny hands, a cross standing among roses comprise her popular fragments collection. Her signature candles often illuminate her many designs.

54 - Shaun Horne Painting
Market Value: $3,600
Details
Details:

Shaun Horne is a professional landscape painter based in Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado.  Shaun paints landscape paintings using a large scale plein air method. He starts and finishes his large canvases on site by returning day after day to the same place and light in the manner of Claude Monet. On the other hand Shaun paints with an American hard-edge more akin to Rockwell Kent, Edward Hopper, or Georgia O’Keefe.  Shaun has developed among the most intense and sustained plein air painting methods to date, working over a thousand hours per year in plein air.

Born in 1968, at the end of 2012 Shaun had produced 850 large-scale, pure plein air, multi-session paintings.  Most of those paintings reflect twenty plus hours of direct observation.

Shaun's paintings have been purchased by hundreds of collectors and institutions from across the United States.  He is owner and director of the Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery in Crested Butte (which now has a second gallery in Telluride, Colorado). The Oh-Be-Joyful Gallery has among the strongest stables of plein air landscape painting talent in the US.

55 - Rolando Diaz: Live Painter
Market Value: $8,500
Details
Details:

In the discovery of life we find ourselves looking for the things we can relate to.

It is this thought that becomes the basis for the work of Rolando Diaz, a native Cuban-American artist.

Diaz believes that, "art is an expression of life". Everything we see, feel, touch, smell and hear, in one way or another, become part of the images expressed on the canvas.

Born in Havana, Cuba, to a Cuban immigrant businessman who fled an oppressive Communist regime, Diaz learned early that there are those who will go through life with little or nothing they can call their own. This thought has touched the heartstrings of the artist, who has traveled through cities in the U.S. and other countries, including Cap Haitian, Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, recalling and painting those images, and raising funds through his art for the poor.

Diaz travels internationally with his art to countries such as Africa, Brazil, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Honduras, Guatemala, England and Canada. The experiences of his travels continue to bring him back to the original European influences in Havana. The island was once conquered by the Spaniards and the French. The Old Havana city is full of European detail. It's architecture, monuments, narrow cobble stone streets, palms and the ocean reflect the bohemian life style.

A documentary about Diaz titled “Recapturing Cuba” has been released. The film won two awards at the Sundance Film Festival and has been an inspiration to many people. Diaz has exhibited in museums, galleries and private homes, while maintaining a solid collector's list . He has also exhibited at the Grace Cultural Arts Museum in Abilene, Texas, The LA Thompson Gallery and Gallery 209, The Pace Collection, The Florence Art Gallery in Dallas, and several other places.
