About

What We Do, How We Operate, and Who We Serve

Blessings of Hope is a food bank to food banks, or a 'Wholesale Food Bank'. We have a staff of approximately 20 people and thousands of volunteers each and every month. We serve other nonprofit organizations with food.

Church Food Pantries

Halfway Houses

Boys/Girls Camps

Outreaches

From January to April 2020 we have distributed over 8 million lbs. (equivalent to 200 semi truckloads) of food that would otherwise been wasted.

In the first 3 weeks of April 2020, we packed 55,000 family boxes with food (approximately 40 lbs of food per box), serving more than 250 organizations! Presently, we are turning over our warehouse inventory about every 5 days. That means if we don't get any food in, within 5 days or less, our warehouse is empty!

Currently, we are shipping out an average of 3 semi truckloads of food per day!

Due to the extreme demand for our services during the COVID-19 relief efforts, we are looking to do Phase #3 renovations in the spring of 2020 instead of the fall of 2020. This puts an urgency on raising funds and getting construction started immediately!

In early April 2020 we were offered 13 semi truckloads of fresh produce that still had a week date on it. Because we did not have the capacity to take it immediately, within a few hours 8 loads were already in the landfill. Sadly, we shook our heads as 300,000 lbs of fresh fruits and vegetables that could have been utilized to feed hungry people in the inner cities, are instead rotting in a landfill somewhere.

Where/Why do We Get the Food?

  • Product from distributions centers that is too close to the expirations date to send to retail stores.
  • Product from manufacturers that may have been overproduces and mislabeled.
  • Over shipped items
  • New product with damaged packaging.

Why the urgency?

With the record-high unemployment from something that is really no one's fault, and no hope or relief in sight for millions of people, there is an extreme demand on our banks to help with hunger-relief caused by the crisis of COVID-19.

We hear testimonials on a regular basis:

"We are so grateful for this food box. We were down to eating sugar cubes." "All I have food-wise is 3 oranges in my house. Your box of food was a tremendous blessing." "A widow from our church was a recipient of one of your boxes of food and she was very appreciative. Thanks for your generosity!" "Thank you for helping us all who are in need of food at this time. May God continue to bless you." "Thank you for the food you shared with us. We were given more than the two of us could use. We shared some of it with our neighbors. We shared with them the extra Gospel of John you included. We pray for you and those working with you. Thank you!"

Our Goals

To have Phase #3 construction finished and paid for by July 1, 2020. This is a complete renovation of the existing old dock space, adding offices for our warehouses and dispatch teams, 20,000 sq. ft. of cooler and freezer space which will allow us to store and utilize more than 1,000 additional skids of product at a time as it becomes available.

All proceeds from iCare 2020 and the auction will go towards the Capital Campaign of growing and renovating our building.

Be a part of what God is doing right now, right here, and all across the world! DONATE TO THE CAUSE

Thank you from all the people that Blessings of Hope has helped and will help because of your generosity. We also thank you on behalf of the people who are not here to say thank you!
