About Our Event

In effort to limit exposure to COVID-19 among members of the Arlington community, we’ve decided to make a major change to Beats for EATS this year. The online auction is full steam ahead, but we are canceling the in-person event that was scheduled for March 28th at Town Hall. Even though you are all amazing dancers, this is not the right time for us to get together and dance.

Our online auction will be in full swing, with all of our spectacular donated items and experiences awaiting your bid. We’ll be in touch soon with more details. To participate in the online auction, click here to register and keep an eye on your email for our upcoming auction items!

We are temporarily shifting our resources to emergency preparedness. Disruptions caused by COVID-19 are especially hard on neighbors who face food insecurity because:

  • There is no extra money to stock up on groceries in case of quarantine
  • A few days of lost wages could make it impossible to buy food.
  • If it becomes necessary to close schools, children who receive free and reduced-price lunch will miss out on meals they rely on.
  • Seniors, who are high risk, may be unable to shop.

Beats for EATS is our biggest fundraising effort of the year, and supporters like you make that possible. It means the world to us that you bought tickets. With the in-person event out of the picture and with needs very high, we are asking you to consider converting your ticket purchase to a tax-deductible donation to support COVID-19 preparedness efforts. Of course, we understand if this isn’t the right choice for you. Please email richelle@arlingtoneats.org by March 23 to let us know how to handle your ticket. If you’d like a refund, we will issue it promptly. If you’d like to turn it into a donation, we’ll be sure to send you a donation receipt.

We are already seeing increased worry among our program participants and are making adjustments for the safety of all EATS guests and volunteers. Funds raised at Virtual Beats for EATS will help ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have access to sufficient and nutritious food during the COVID-19 response. EATS is in conversation with town officials about COVID-19 preparedness efforts and will share details as soon as possible.
