As a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault who suffered in silence, too ashamed and scared to advocate for myself, I am dancing for all the people who feel the same way and have not been able to find their voice and ask for help. My hope is that my story and my dance will inspire a survivor to seek help. I am dedicating this dance to my mom, Diana, who used Turning Points women’s shelter to ensure that me and my siblings were safe. Lastly, I am dancing for my nieces, Harper, Dylan, Sloane, Claire and Olivia-my hope for you is that you follow your dreams, advocate for yourself and use your voice to make an impact, Aunt Emmy will always be a safe space for you!
