A Message from our CEO

"Since 1971, SBCS has walked hand-in-hand with families to provide the support that they tell us they need. As CEO and a forty-year employee of SBCS myself, I can tell you definitively – our community depends on us and the need is greater than ever.

Thank you to our incredible community for believing in our work and making our new Center for Impact possible. With your support, this community-centered space will be a launching pad for us to serve more people, more often and a symbol of our commitment to serving this community for decades to come. Together, we're ensuring that every child, youth, and family in our region has the opportunity to build a brighter future.

I hope to see you at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!"

About SBCS' Center for Impact

SBCS' new Center for Impact will be a beacon of light for families when they need it the most.

The first floor will serve as a vibrant hub for community connection and advancement, featuring 13 private rooms for mental health services and support groups, a neighborhood computer lab, a teen center, and flexible spaces for community gatherings and civic engagement. Additionally, a staffed childcare room and private breastfeeding room will ensure parents can access services without barriers.

The upper floors will centralize our program offerings and staff in one place,  as a cornerstone of SBCS operations that will expand the vital services that help our community thrive, including:

  1. Domestic Violence Support: Crisis intervention, emergency shelter, trauma counseling, and safety planning to help survivors and their children reclaim their lives and begin to heal.
  2. Housing Solutions & Basic Needs: A robust continuum of housing services designed to prevent eviction, combat homelessness, and provide pathways to lasting stability for vulnerable families.
  3. Education and Youth Development: College readiness and workforce development programs that equip young people from under-resourced communities with skills and resources to succeed.
  4. Transition-Aged Youth Services: Comprehensive support for justice-involved, former foster, homeless, and parenting youth, including stable housing, mental health services, and life skills development.

SBCS' Center for Impact will bring residents, resources, and comprehensive support services together under one roof in order to better address the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors and build a stronger, more resilient future.

Thank you to our community of supporters who have made this vision—which will help us reach 10,000 additional children, youth, and families each year—a reality!
