Cynthia Ono Innis- Polar
14.5" x 22"
Acrylic, ink, satin, and velvet on paper
Fascinated with hauntingly sublime and sometimes threatening landscapes in the West, my work is a study in environmental transitions. Inspired by geologically dynamic locations, I’m also captivated by the effects of weather and the ways light can distort perception. In my work I process the natural manifestations and surprising juxtapositions I’ve observed by physically creating and manipulating painted materials in combination with drawing on various surfaces that include paper, fabric and wood panel.
