Morgan Dreese - "Greensboro Autumn"
Item Donated By
Morgan Dreese
Dimensions: Unframed 11" x 14"
Medium: Oil
Inspired by the vibrant foliage of North Carolina’s Piedmont region and Higgins Lake, "Greensboro Autumn" captures the fleeting beauty of fall in a single moment of reflection. With bold palette knife textures and layers of rich oil paint, the scene blends fiery reds, amber golds, and cool forest shadows as they dance across a glassy lake.
This piece was painted with a deep appreciation for the local landscape and its ever-changing light, an echo of stillness and motion, memory and transition.
As an artist, I am endlessly inspired by the natural world, especially the movement of water, the shifting of light, and the quiet poetry of landscapes. My work blends impressionism with texture and depth, using oil paint, palette knife techniques, and mixed media to create pieces that feel both grounded and alive.
Rooted in North Carolina, my art reflects the places I’ve lived, the people I’ve met, and the stories I’ve had the honor to bring to canvas. Whether painting crashing waves, abstract emotions, or commissioned portraits, I strive to create connection through color, texture, and memory.
Each piece is a moment captured, an invitation to pause, feel, and reflect.
