About Our Mission
This is our 25th Rotary Gift of Life Auction. The Rotary Gift of Life Auction is an annual fundraiser that provides significant financial support for the Gift of Life Program in Indiana. Funds raised from this fun evening will go toward healing the hearts of children throughout the world with life-saving heart surgeries.
The Indiana Gift of Life Program partners with the Riley Heart Team from Riley Hospital for Children, the Rotary Club of Greenfield, the Rotary Foundation, and other Rotary Clubs around the world to fund surgeries for children who would not have access to such care. The program began by bringing children from other countries for surgeries at Riley Hospital. During their stay, the medical team cares for the child at the hospital and local Rotary team members care for the family by providing groceries, emotional support, and more.
Most recently, the program has expanded to include Vocational Training Team trips by the Riley Heart Team to other countries where treatments options are limited. On these trips, the team not only operates on children who need heart surgery, but they also train the in-country medical team during surgery and post-op care. This allows for the medical team in these countries to help more children once the Riley Team is back in Indianapolis. Many of the funds raised at the auction are used to apply for grants through Rotary International which greatly multiplies the dollars available for these types of trips.
Over the years, the Indiana Gift of Life program has saved the lives of over 400 children all around the world. All the funds raised by the annual auction go toward the Indiana Gift of Life Program in a fund managed by the Rotary District 6560 Foundation.
